I just did more research and came back to delete my silly question of whether there were aftermarket options but you caught it before I could haha it looks like the question has been answered a million times..

Here are the rest of the guts:

If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's an electrical problem... If it's an electrical problem, it's Cal's problem.

It's really odd. A couple of them have hardly any mark on them, others have the mark but you can't "feel it" others actually have a small gash that you can feel with your nail...  ???

Sorry, I might have the wrong idea here, but are you talking about the groove around the circumference in the centre of the rotor?
If so, mine's exactly the same (I saw no indication it was from undue damage) & I was under the (possibly mistaken) impression it was something from the production process - maybe something to do with balancing?

I think I remember Dave500 posting about this at some stage, but it's rather difficult to revive some of the past threads these days, even with Google advanced search.
Maybe worth checking with some other 550 owners to see if it's a sometimes a normal occurrence?

Edit : http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=133777.0
Mostly talking about the butt joint, but you can also see the gouge present.

That rotor is quite normal, something to do with the manufacturing process - my three look similar, John

Thanks for that, I was thinking it HAD to be in manufacturing because nothing is touching and there are no marks anywhere on the coil at all.. that makes me feel better.

Speaking of Motogadget... I placed my order on Wednesday and I just received notification that a "package with german writing on it" was delivered. Insane shipping speed for international, right?

ok, time for me to sneak out of work early and play with my Motoscope Pro!

Blac,

I am using an M-Unit, it was my understanding that to get the lights to display on the motoscope (turn signals, oil switch, etc) they had to be run to the breakout box?  ???

Okay, so I was kidding.  ;D Yes, you need the breakout box for the MotoScope Pro. I love that gauge too, my son wants to use it on his 500 build, but we are struggling to design a front end where mounting it will look "integrated" and not have it just "stuck on" or sticking out.

I'll send you a drowning of an idea I have :)

A drowning idea . . .

For a second there, I wondered if a breakout box was required for my Chronoclassic, but NO it's only required for the digital displays.

Okay, so I was kidding.  ;D Yes, you need the breakout box for the MotoScope Pro. I love that gauge too, my son wants to use it on his 500 build, but we are struggling to design a front end where mounting it will look "integrated" and not have it just "stuck on" or sticking out.

Here is something I have been playing around with.  I think I like it.. it should contour to and be a mount for the Motoscope as well as contouring right over the top of the headlight on the front side (might even be a headlight mount as well).

For a build/project like this, I don't see much value in keeping plans secret.  all my engine specs and bike plans will be out in the open here, so here is what I have been playing with:

I can bend, fab and chrome a 7/8th bar but am at a loss for how to make mounting brackets in steel to attach it to the fork tubes...

If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's an electrical problem... If it's an electrical problem, it's Cal's problem.
