After a Skittle-less delivery, Nils has one upped the customer service with a surprise rainbow delivery!  :P ;D

Thank you Sir!  The skittles looks like they have become my bikes color scheme based on the reactions form the board on the post above haha

If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's an electrical problem... If it's an electrical problem, it's Cal's problem.

***AN INQUIRY TO THOSE WHO HAVE OWNED OR RIDDEN A MOTORCYCLE WITH A LIGHTENED CRANK***

I will be sending my crank to APE in the next day or so and haven't decided whether I want to just balance the crank or have it lightened + Balanced

Rideability + Performance:
My concern is that it might not be street-friendly and that due to the fast revving nature I will have to buy a Dyna ignition system with a rev limited (more money for parts after spending more money on parts).  What are thoughts on rideability? I will be running a 126-20 cam, so Im thinking it would be a good way to get up into my powerband more quickly?

Cost:
The cost difference is $285 for lightened+balanced vs $75 for balanced.  Not a huge deal but Im sure I could find another way to spend that $210

Cool factor:
it looks sexy and a responsive, snappy motor sounds very appealing to me...  8)

Are there any vintage CB family friends who do powder coating in Los Angeles, or does anyone have any recommendations that do good work for a fair price?

I hear you! I've been waiting to go to the coater so I can match a specific wrinkle texture for a part on my Triumph, but their business hours are tricky.

Pulled my front caliper apart, what do you guys think about the condition of my piston? runable?

I also finally got to the brakes of my S1000rr.. it turned out that the rubber 'plunger thing' (for lack of a better explanation) had turned itself halfway inside out in the MC.. I fixed that then bled both brakes and the MC and now the lever feel is much better.  "harder than wedding dick" as my grandfather would say.

Back in one piece!

Assuming you need a replacement you might also consider a phenolic piston that will not rust or corrode (and is lighter).

I bought a Gixxer front end but ended up not wanting to use it and to keep the factory look instead.  I bought new TNK fork tubes, springs and gold valve emulators from Racetech and called it a day.

I'm having a brain lapse.  I thought you were going to run the modern front on this bike with modern brakes.

I bought a Gixxer front end but ended up not wanting to use it and to keep the factory look instead.  I bought new TNK fork tubes, springs and gold valve emulators from Racetech and called it a day.

Sorry, I missed that detail!

No worries, I made that decision when I thought I was only going to spend a few grand on a "refresh" on this project lol what was I thinking.  I also want to retain the look of the stock front end, there is something I like about the classic look.  I might upgrade in the future, or do an inverted front on the next project =)
If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's an electrical problem... If it's an electrical problem, it's Cal's problem.

Check out Etak-Nivek Blac when your ready to upgrade. I just purchased front forks from them. Classic,Ceriani looks with modern internals rebound dampening and preload adjustment. Kevin is an awesome dude.
