Yep I'm going to rebuild the carbs, and put some elbow grease into it and should be able to ride it for 6 months and make $500 on it.  It was a good find.

We agreed on a price then another guy called him offering him more but the seller gave me yesterday to buy it then it was the other buyers.  So already could make money on it  :P

That's the best kind of deal! Congrats. It'll also give you appreciation for all of the upgrades your putting into the project build.

Thanks and ya, that is something I am looking forward to. I want to feel the difference from where I started to what it became.  I only roadie my first 550 once so I don't really have any reference

Of course, this may tempt you to swap to the Beringer system.  Keep Philippe's number handy!

Given the other options Bryan has, he'll likely be able to ward off that temptation.

bet you will secretly enjoy the stocker more.  It's ok.  You don't have to admit it here.

I'll take that bet! I am sure you will appreciate the stocker, but with the work in your 550 and the mule in your stable, you'll happily move that stocker along to a purist while you blaze on your custom and warp time on your RR.

Speaking from experience, I love my stocker for putting around, but am acutely aware of all of its weaknesses.

Nice. Replace that really awful aftermarket cover and you will have a really sweet little rider.

Agreed.  I love my stocker/stockish 550. It runs like a sewing machine -- not drama, just a fun little scoot.

really happy with the parts and the prices were great! I went with the 'Titan' black anadized with the machined lightening holes.

I am still working on getting all of my Iceland + Motorcycle museum photos post edited so I will come back to that, but first I wanted to share my thoughts on a new purchase I made at the good old Harbor Freight.

I picked up this list on sale (isnt it always) for $280.  The price was right and this thing is rock steady so far!  I highly suggest picking one up, this will be a huge back saver.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's an electrical problem... If it's an electrical problem, it's Cal's problem.

I see you've moved to the tent! Is your girl's g'pa busy cooking up something in the main garage?

No they only live in that house a few months a year and the roller good on that garage broke so they just closed it for the year.  I didn't want to build the bike in the shop and not be able to get it out  ;D

ugh... no sadly.

I still have to get the valve reliefs cut into the pistons, which means I need to buy the 126-20 cam, and then measure how deep the pistons need to be cut, which requires pulling the valves out of the intake side to mark the center onto the pistons...

Its a lot of "I have never done that" work using a lot of "I don't have those tools".

So basically feeling a little overwhelmed so I have focused on getting the new bike running healthy. I really dont want to screw up this motor  :o

Bryan, If you are removing those valves, ease them super carefully through the seals, or consider not reusing them. Had to take my Z1 apart and replace those because they got damaged on a disassembly and reassembly.  :-\
