Davies Motorsport CB500 Racer
« on: January 26, 2016, 08:27:38 am »
Does anyone know how their CB500/4 racer project turned out? I've been told by a CRMC member that they made only a few appearances on the UK racing scene last year, with a high percentage of dnf's? I was especially interested in the 'heavily' re-worked cylinder head they intended to develop but it seems they didn't/or don't offer them for sale?

i dont think they have been doing much with crmc .the iom dnf was due to the clutch but i was not aware they were having other problems
try sending a pm to HondaFreak he posts when they are developing stuff for sale and will have up to date info , failing that give john a call
he is a great bloke and if they have been having problems with stuff he will tell you straight , he would never sell anything that he thought didnt work .

Thanks Sam - he also has a biz fb page https://www.facebook.com/Davies-Motorsport-806727802690293/
It was the lack of recent news on this and their 500/4 blog etc that made me wonder if things hadn't gone quite so well with the project. Hoping to hear back from Peter (HondaFreak) with further info.

I can't speak for John's projects but when last we emailed there was discussion about what was left to develop in these engines. Since then he offered up the dry clutch! Hopefully there is still interest for them, because it has been good for people into the older middleweights.

Good idea Simon - I ought to find time to get to Stafford this year, haven't been for years. I'm only just south of Brum, so no excuses really.

+1 on that - their interest in the 500/4 was definitely good news. Getting that crappy head to breath has always been the big nut to crack IMO.

It's possible to double stock horsepower and that isn't too shabby. Most of that is improving the head for sure. If a guy had the dosh, even with the small chamber, changing the valve angle to get a 30mm intake valve in there would provide another huge gain.

Good luck talking with John, let us know how it goes.
