Cylinder Studs
« on: January 23, 2016, 11:58:52 AM »
Rebuilding a 1975 CB750F Supersport.  Stock compression.  Debating whether I should stay with the stock cylinder studs.  I'm fearful I'll run into an issue removing the old studs or break one off.  I'm leaning towards using the stock ones unless there is a good reason to remove and upgrade them.  Comments are welcomed.

Anytime you can get more torque on the studs the better....no matter what gaskets etc.

Was it oozing oil around the head gasket? Were ANY of the head nuts less tight than the specified torque? Answer yes then go with HD studs.

Replace the old ones. The HD ones will allow you to use higher torque values and prevent possible weeping gaskets.
