Not quite goodbye, but...
« on: January 28, 2016, 10:03:50 AM »
Hey all, just wanted to let you know you won't have me to kick around anymore.  ;) My life interest took a turn about a year ago and the old guy has taken up cycling. Mostly to help with the quiting smoking thing (almost a year now). Turns out I really like it and what free time I have generally gets used for riding, even in the winter provided it is at least 32F, not too windy and the roads are dry. I haven't quite decided what to do with my 750. I should just sell it and put the proceeds in my grandson's 529 accounts, but parting with it will be difficult, I've had it 40+ years.  :-[ Anyway, I have contacted Glenn and he will be removing me from the moderator list in the near future. I will stop by from time to time, just not as often as in the past.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Congratulations on quitting the smokes.

Got to reccommend keeping the motorcycle around a while, never know.

Hey Bob,
Good luck to you wherever life takes you.  Save that bike for when your grandson finishes school.

Bob,
You're motivating me to get back on my bicycle after 2 yrs. off,I still don't/can't even find a good excuse for not cycling.  ::) I need to re-develop my 'spin' again + I'd rather not have to take the medicine as much and cycling will help me to cut back on my blood pressure & other meds.  :)

I agree with the others in that you might want to hang on to the 750 for a little while...  ;)

Bob, hope to see you out on HRD....

I first came online and also started my Honda rebuild about 2002. One of the first things I found in my searches was your own blog covering many things CB750 and carbs in particular. I read it from end to end, and more than a few times. Well, mine was gonna get rebuilt and running good, but it was such a relief to find somebody who was doing the same, and sharing your experiences. You had many answers for many problems, and made my rebuild much better than it would have otherwise been. When I joined the SOHC forum at the very beginning, what do I find but Bob Wessner, Moderator. Once again, this forum has helped me so much with my rebuild, and you are a big reason for the success of the forum. You will be missed.

You are a few years older than me and sometimes I wonder how much riding I might be doing in the future. Maybe we can have that conversation sometime. We bought kayaks last year, and I hope to be out at Hudson Mills, Delhi, Barton and Argo on the kayaks if not on the CB.

Best wishes for your future.  :)

Sorry to hear you leaving but congrats on quitting smoking. As far as the 750 is concerned if you've had for 40 years then it's probably like an old friend to you by now so selling it may be something you'd regret eventually.

The way you have handled the moderator duties has been the most evenhanded I've seen anywhere. A lot of credit must go to you for the success of the forum. Have fun on the bicycle, I enjoy mine. But it doesn't take the place of the motorcycles. I heard somewhere variety is the spice of life.

FWIW Bob, a lot of us have a cycling and riding hobby at the same time. Just something about being on two wheels! I never quit cycling from when I was a teenager because I love it so much but I am only recently back into the motorcycling. Although I have been considering trading in my full suspension MTB for a dual sport Honda like a XR650L or something but haven't quite finished with trail peddling just yet. I hope you reconsider the motorcycles. :)

Hey Bob...I have really good thoughts of you from back in 2007 when you helped me out with my first 1970 KO. Then in 2014 my 1969 KO has a piece of you on it...the hand rail...remember? :) But selling the bike you had for 40 years....man, give it a good thought before you do it. You'll never get it back once it is gone. Sure, you maybe could find something like it...but not THE bike. Good luck my friend and keep us posted on how you are doing. As you can see by the posts you have a lot of good friends on here who think very highly of you. All the best for you Bob!

It was a pleasure having you around to be the voice of reason and restraint. The success of this forum was in a large part due to your presence. You will be missed.
