I like it.....good color combo but I think black and gold has to stand alone as in no chrome. That's why I like aluminum (silver). It still fits with chrome. My brother had a friend that had that factory black and gold Kawasaki back in the 80's (forgot the name of it). I thought that was cool when it came out.
It's been a long time since I rode a right side shift bike. I took my rider's test on HD 350 Sprint back around 1972. I rode a friends old Sporty, a Norton 850 Commando, and a couple of Triumphs. Never rode a BSA but knew a few guys that had them. Speaking of old Triumphs.....here's a pic of 3 things I've owned since I was a young buck in the late 60's. Don't recall where the tank badge came from. The Vette spinner was attached to totally destroyed hub cab I found in a cherry orchard. The Pepsi bottle was in an ice chest my Grand parents brought to a camping trip.

MrBreeze, the only chrome planned on this bike will be the pipes and mufflers, only because I just scored a brand new set of mufflers that are chrome and I can't bring myself to coat the brand new parts black.

Wanted to post some before pics to memorialize the build from start to finish.










Strip and blasted some parts to coat. Seems the vibration got to the oil tank early in it's life.







One frame down to virgin metal ready for coating tomorrow.




The small parts in various gloss levels of Black, even coated the replacement pop rivets.

Your bike color matches the wheels on men but not the Spring Gold (Jeep Rescue Green) that bike is.


Wheel is Sun Gold Metallic:



Paint is rattle can Jeep Rescue Green, a very close match to the original Spring Gold, which is green, not gold.

When it's done it will look just like this only all the chrome will be Matte Black and the wheels and brakes difference.

Coated the frame in a 55% Semi Gloss Black and is ready for reassembly also:

Looks like a new tank is in order. This thing held water for the 3 days I ran electrolysis to get all the rust out from inside, there wasn't much left after that I guess.

i did see one of those Indian made tanks , it was for a bmw and the quality was ok

Started looking around for a place to mount the rear master cylinder, there's not a lot of places to put one. As it turns out it was an easy mod to put it in the only place it will fit and be an extremely easy hook up to the pedal. I'll just make me a new passenger peg mounting plate that has an extended bottom to mount the m/c to the back side of. Fortunately the actuating arm on the brake pedal is removable and can be clocked in 45° increments. I just needed to turn it down so it is pushing instead of pulling. Unfortunately the actuating arm is not bent in the correct orientation for this application, but heating and bending it is an easy fix to clearance the frame rail.

I've seen the India tanks and some look nice on the outside but I've heard complaints about the materials they use and the nasty finish on the inside of the tanks. That said, I have a question in to one of the India makers to see if they can make me a 4 gallon Tiger tank with a package tray on it.

Have you considered putting the Triumph motor in the Norton frame and making a Triton? Since you are straying from pure stock anyway, this may be the best use of the parts you have on hand, and was a common combination back in the day.
