more carb problems

Putting together carbs 1&2 I am following this http://www.cb750c.com/publicdocs/SeanG/Honda_Carb_Manual_revG.pdf they are not the exact carbs but very close I have a 650 1982 night hawk.
The problem is that I put in the choke shaft just like describe and when I check to see if it works, it. don't. I pull on where the cable goes and it just turns  here are a few pics of what I  got

figured out that the choke shaft is got a little bend to it . Don't know how I did it most likely taking the plates off or on but now I have to see if I can find a new one or straiten out this one . the one on my extra carb bank is also bent worse than the good one . Thanks for all the info madmtnmotors
