new fork tubes from Cycle-x? anyone used these?
« on: February 01, 2016, 02:45:16 PM »
I think replacing the fork tubes would be a good idea, there is a small spot of scoring and where the headlight mount was they are rusted and pitted. Since I'm using a headlight mount without these it will be visible. The new fork tubes are $149 a pair. Thanks

I used a set of their -1 Tube Set (22 13/16 inches) for my rebuild. No complaints here, they were a nice quality part and went together flawlessly with all the original and OE replacement parts

The Cycle X tubes are fine.  Decent hard chrome.  Not quite as nice as Forking by Frank, but not nearly as expensive.

I have their tubes on my '72 CB750. Great quality, no issues that I've noticed in 3000 miles.

I wouldn't hesitate. I'd be really suprised for someone to find a company who manufactures fork tubes for these old bikes that would be of poor quality. It's not exactly a volume market.

I have a set on my K6.
One of them is leaking when the circlip was not completely in its grrove. It scratched the surface so it leak a little. Enough for replacement this winter.
Use good fork seals. I order the correct ones from David silver, double lips and very stiff conctruction. 91255-341-305

I got a package a week ago with these and I wrote about it here:

My new fork tubes from David Silver is same as Cycle X if I remember correct. Paper that the David Silver tubes are wrapped in has a logo like ja-hon or jahon written on it.

Thanks Davez,
I called cyclex and got to speak w/ the owner Ken and he told me that he didn't carry any tubes for the CB400F but said that if he noticed there was more of a 'call' for them or if they fit other bikes that he will consider carrying them.
I mentioned the CB350F has the same diameter and style of fork tubes as the CB400F but a little different length;the same dia. and style of fork tubes are also used in the CB350 twins & 400 Hawk models but different length's.
I think I got Ken's attention  :) He said I'm the only guy in 20 yrs. that asked for fork tubes for the CB400F so let's have a few more of you CB400F and 350F owners call him up !!  The difference in price between Frank's Engineering is double what you can get them from Ken and Frank's is very tough to reach to even make an order.

Ken @ Cyclex said that he needs to hear from more of us small Honda four owners before he can fulfil the requirements of a minimum order so lets call him up !  :)  Ring his bell and he'll start carrying 33mm fork tubes !

Support our people who support us! In the mean time check into Yamiya750.com. They have gotten into the 400 mix.
