Buried in CO, how are you faring?

Overnight we got 2 feet of new snow, still rolling down this noontime! Good day to stay inside, or maybe the garage?

We're battling the front lines with a recent wave days ago of an inch of rain, surprisingly the state didn't declare an emergency.  a bit out of Los Angeles California, temps dipped to near freezing last night, it could hit easily 70 or 80 degrees today. have fun in the snow.

Please let it warm up - rode into work this a.m. at 36-40 degrees along the coast.  That is completely unacceptable.  The mountains look great, though.

I have a question about snow . Keep in mind I've never seen snow before...   When you say 2 foot of snow , how much rain would that be equivalent to?
Not sure if it can even be measured but it's a question I often think about..

Normally they say 8 inches of snow equals one inch of rain.
This weekend I will be heading up to Taos and Wolf Creek and I know even after a week I will find untouched stashes in the trees!  8)

little bit of snow we had should be rain washed away by tomorrow...just more rain forecasted here in sw. Michigan.  After the last 2 winters, this feels as a well deserved break.

51 and sunny for the last 2 days here in upstate N.Y.. It's been a delightful winter so far. I was debating heading south  for the winter but this time I'm glad I didn't go. There's still two months of winter to go here. I wouldn't mind if this mildness continues. If for no other reason , just to see the fuel oil deliverers not running ruts up my driveway like last year.

depending on the temperature, 1" of rain could equal 10" or 15".  The closer you get to the freezing temp, the "wetter" the snow and less accumulation.  The opposite hold true for colder temps.  Here's a link to watch: http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/what-are-snow-ratios/4786333
