Mian and big end bearings
« on: February 04, 2016, 04:01:57 pm »
Hi, I am building a 1971 CB750k, Have done a 836 kitt. But am trying to find the markings on my Connecting Rods.
I have found the case markings and the Crank markings but when i look at the connecting rods only one is marked with a 2, they are marked # 1 # 2 # 3 # 4 (cylinders 1 # 2 # 3 # 4 ?). Only one has another marking with 2.
The other 3 are marked with a 5/9??
Who can help me with this?

OK it's good that you have them numbered by cylinder, because ideally they should go back into the same positions as you took them out of.

The size markings can be hard to see, they're marked on the sides where the caps meet the rod, should be marked on both sides of the parting line.

These are faint etched numbers, there's barely any depth to them at all, not like stamped-in numbers.

Further confusing things, one side of the rod is marked with the size numbers but the opposite face is marked with weight codes and/or japanese characters.

Post some pictures of both sides of your rods and we'll help you get it sorted.

On that last pic, with the F marks, I'm seeing "1", "2", "1".

The ones are very hard to see, but I believe they're there.

I assume you have a fourth rod somewhere also?  :)

Yeah that's too blurry to tell, but the marking should be in the same place as the others.

A "2", "3" or "4" would stand out more, so I'd bet at least 75 cents that it's another "1".
