Just picked up this interesting retro chopperish 500 parts bike
« on: January 31, 2016, 04:00:37 pm »
Just picked this thing up yesterday for parts. Pretty weird the stuff they did to it. Looks like a very wide 16'' rear wheel, apes, plastic sportster looking tank, sketchy seat. They made a custom box for the coils so they could mount it on the front. Also wondering what these gauges are? Also seems to have an aftermarket frame. Good stuff.

frame is not aftermarket...it has been "molded",  that means in chopperese that all the welds and tube joints have been smoothed with body filler or solder.  Those gauges look like Yamaha, although I am not familiar with the chrome cups.
If it works good, it looks good...

Nah, it's already all apart. But it really made me like high tanks. I think i'm going to look into that style for the build i'm doing right now.

Your new chopper is hauntingly familiar to my favorite 500, smoothed frame, Harley rear rim,lay down shock mounts, color seems close too. Mine came with a sportster tank too... too tall....too ugly on the 500 frame. I change out that tank and like it much better.

Like the pipes on your machine... long enough to add 2 into 1 mufflers too. Nice project.
A few Honda 500's, a few Honda 550's, a few Honda 650's, '72 cb 450, a couple 500/550/650 hybrids, and 2001 750.
550 Snowbike -Somebody had to do it.
