Well Terry, that's the question I can't get an answer to. The 450 naturally had a bigger cylinder head then the 400 or even the 425 cc models. I do know the inlet diameter at the head is the same.

What I don't know is the bend out of the head and if the angle of the bend would change the mounting location at the muffler brackets in the rear. Everything else looks correct so it becomes a roll the dice decision.

Thank you for those links. I get daily updates but didn't get those. In my watch list now.

Mick will do, Terry lives 2000 miles south of me... ;D

Yes, I was looking at the mufflers, not the header pipes, they certainly look close... ;)

I beg your pardon Sir. Senior moment. Again.

I contacted the seller and they are Sankei 2056, mine are Sankei 2119. Looks the same huh?

Installed new battery along with new end cover and strap. Ran a trickle charger lead.

Cleaned up the seat strap hardware along with another coat of cleaner. Fitted the front bracket.

And a progress shot.

Hoping to get the front MC rebuilt this weekend so I can finish up the right handlebar.

Onward...

It's all good guys, no worries.

Nothing in stone on the mirrors. Subject to change at any given moment.  ;)

Thank you for the compliment on the rest.  ;D

I don't like squarish mirrors either, it just screams 80's.

Napoleon mirrors are an excellent coated optics mirror, not quiet square, but close enough and they will not look out of place.
I like them and they are large enough to see things and see them clearly.

Although quite appropriate for an '82  ;D

Great input, love it. Looked around yesterday for different style but it's so far down the road decided to just hold off.

I have these on my Ducati and yes, they look good on there. The main, and I suppose only reason, is I can see behind me and not my shoulder.

This is the good side, very usable. Has a dent in the down tube but chrome is very good. End caps not so much on both.

I agree that a new pr. of exhaust would be a good thing, those end caps aren't any good and that'll cause you jetting problems.I hope oem from another model is able to fit.Have you tried one from a GS450? possibly even have another pr. of oem mufflers grafted/welded on to those pipes and then have the whole works high temp. PC'd bright silver..

Most listed on flea bay are just as rusty or worse. CMS replied to my question and their pipes are Sankei 2120 so no guarantee of fitment.

Now, discussing this on GS forum and a set of Mac exhaust would not take much jetting if any. Maybe half to one size up at my elevation of 525 feet. Mac's are baffled.

When I head down to my friends shop this weekend I'll look in my spare carburetor kits and get the main jet size. Stock is 115 so I need 115.5 or 116 jets.

Here is a link if anyone is interested.

tt - that rust does not look that severe, I would try to blast it at a low pressure.

Plz don't Mac it, there has to be a better option.  On Hondas, Mac is seen as a budget pipe...

I agree, Mac is on the low end but the only option I know of at this time other  than waiting for something on flea bay.

I took my iPad with pictures. A GS forum member has these, no holes or dings. $75.00 plus shipping so it's worth a try and it has the impossible to find exhaust shields.
