tt,
Have you tried looking at other models w/ the same style bodywork? That bodywork on yours looks exactly the same as my previous 82 & 83' GS1100E models and the part may be avail. from one of them.

Most places were NLA. Thanks.

Hey tt....I recently bought some trim for the park racer seat, found it on ebay

Check this seller out, they have many different sizes...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/U-Profile-Rubber-Edge-Soft-Trim-Door-Edge-For-Vans-Cars-Trucks-Waterproof-1ft-/182281132692?hash=item2a70cd5a94:g:y4wAAOSwLF1X2PS3

Did you ever get your trim from this guy? My last tracking location was Vegas on Wednesday. Hasn't moved. Contacted seller, no reply yet.

Geese, everything waiting on a bucks worth of trim.  :(

Thanks...

Yes, beautiful September here. Long summer? It was miserable for me. Not because of the heat but rather the other half. Total of four Hospital stays not to mention appointments when you are discharged and chasing prescriptions.

I'll be glad to see this year go! Next year can only get better because it can't be as bad as this one.

Have a good weekend....

Had a little free time and with cool weather I ventured into the Shop to finish up the fuel tank.

First it was clean the outer threads for the overflow cap.

Next was replacing the inner seal and outer overflow seal. I wrapped the fuel tank in Saran Wrap to protect the finish. Worked really well with soft towels.  ;)

Fuel gauge sending unit fitted.

Finish with Pingle petcock eliminating OEM vacuum petcock. Ready for a fuel leak test and rinse with fresh gas before using. New side cover grommets also fitted.

Onward...

Thank you for the compliment! No plans to sell this one. Sold to many nice twins over the years.

The only person that has a shot is the original owner as I keep him updated. Always offer right to purchase. He will need a hefty amount of cash however.  ;) ;D and quite honestly I don't want to sell it. Just don't see many around, should be a hoot to ride.

After 10 days sitting in some dark corner of the Vegas Post Office my 22 gauge rubber trim arrived.  ::) Really?

Wasn't sure it was going to work but wow, I'm either good or lucky.  :D

Thanks for the lead Steve.

Perfect, just perfect. New lens installed also.

Finished up the rear seat cowl.

Installed the new OEM carburetor holders, O rings and clamps. Holders had to be ordered from the Netherlands, specific to the 82 model only.

Pretty much it until I get the carburetors. Onward....

That trim is just that, perfect;it fills in more of the gap than the oem Suz. part.  8)
There's nothing like fresh rubber oem carb. manifolds tt  ;)

I can't remember if you said that your mirrors are Ducati?(I think i asked already  ::),sorry)as they look so much like VMax/Yamaha style.
Before you install the carbs. it would be a good idea to remove the cam chain tensioner and check it for proper operation as per the factory book.

Mirrors are aftermarket. Had Ducati mirrors on but trashed the idea.  ;)

Yeah, that trim was just perfect but it took 15 days to get it.  ::) Dollar waiting on a dime. I should order some more.  ;)

Manifolds were specific to the 82 model as the 425 and 450 cc models had bigger cylinders thus different manifolds. I had ordered those last spring.  ;)

Thanks Steve. Package sat in Vegas for 10 days. Efficient service. I thought it would be to big but man, it fit perfect. The cowl holds it against the tail light which in turn prevents marring the lens.

Funny, just got done talking with the original owner. He shuttles jet aircraft and jet charter flights. On his way in a new Bombardier Global Express jet for the Chinese. Pretty cool job I would say. Seems he is always going somewhere.

Said he hopes to be in Vegas for Thanksgiving and will give me a call. Hmmmm.

Keep that Suzuki tt,you've done too much 'labor of love' on it to sell it.

You are correct. No intentions unless it's stupid money.

Speaking of money think any of the 500 Ducati Anniversary panigale built are still available? It would be a very small down payment.

A nice Ducati full sport/race bike ! That one doesn't look like it would be happy 'just cruising around town'  ::)  :D

I think an officer of the law would pull me over on that just sitting still parked..  :D

Adjusted seat brackets and mounted seat. Nothing I can do about the gap on top. I remember it being gapped when it was delivered. No adjustments on cowl or seat since there are four latch down points.

I'll roll with it as is.

Can anyone point me to a supplier that sells film that I could cut and apply to protect the seat from maring the fuel tank?

Would like to keep the fuel tank clean in this area.

TIA.

Had a ballast go out on a 8 foot fluorescent so I decided to do a redo. Hung 2 new lights, T8 times 4 each with 6500k tubes.  Fixtures on sale at Lowes.  ;)

Let there be light!  ;D

Do you think it's really necessary, tt?  I've seen the damage you are trying to avoid, but typically only be seen when the seat is open or off.
I wouldn't want to see the film.  Reminds me of when gramma covered the couch with plastic!
