Carb gasket kits?
« on: February 07, 2016, 08:45:29 PM »
Where is the best place to purchase carb rebuild gasket kits? I'll be working on a none runner so looking for a go to source for parts. I plan to clean and just keep stock for now, but later I'd like to rejet for pods and new exhaust.

I'm working on a CB750F1. Anything special I need know about the carbs?

Best place for gaskets?  A dealer. Local or on the Internet.  Gasket sets for carbs are readily available.

Internet dealers have to compete with each other so if you shop around you will find a good price.

I have searched quite a bit and all I've seen are level playing field price range. What I've seen available for the F1 has been single card kits, not the 4 pack like most K kits. Wasn't sure I someone knew of a bundle kits for the F models.

I have seen deluxe kits which include just about everything (gaskets, brass, and floats) for not that much more than buying 4 individual gasket kits. I'd keep the brass stock but would the floats be worth changing, or would the new floats be as inferior as the brass that comes in the kits?

Every buck saved is more bucks for more parts...

Get the oem Honda rubber gasket kits, they'll last you years longer(and with today's fuel it eats-up inferior rubber parts, etc.) than any china-kits;the stock floats, brass, etc. are also superior to aftermarket, you get what you pay for and oem Honda parts are the Best, imo  ;)

Floats..  You mean float valves?  It's extremely rare to need new floats. What's wrong with your floats?

dude, you MIGHT need ...fuel tee o-rings, float valve seat gasket, bowl drain o-rings, float bowl gasket(I have yet to ever replace one of these on a 750 out of double digit rebuilds)...there is not really that much in there.  Why don't you tear them down and see what you really need.   The o-rings are usually the only thing that needs replaced, and not always even then.
If it works good, it looks good...

I suggest the original Honda parts which are still available. That way, you get it done right the first time.

I also assume he means float valve. I had to replace a float valve on my K7 last year--so I replaced all four. I also replaced the needle set as the needles wear out with mileage--which prevents perfect adjustment. The aftermarket gasket sets are junk. One ought to be grateful whenever genuine parts are still available from Honda and thus fairly inexpensive.

I don't currently have the bike but will later this week once we get the title all ironed out. I'm anticipating to replace all rubber in regards to the fuel, ie lines and seals, because the bikes been sitting for 20 years.

Typically I always like to stay OEM, because I live by "get what you pay for", but with the current state of my wallet makes me want to stray to the cheap. I going to get the bike and see what I need instead of assume... I'm just so anxious! Plus the headaches I've had with my VF750C carb issue from sitting with corn juice in them... must have me worrying too much.

Maybe its best to stay minimum on replacements at this point, and once I know its running and riding well throw the rebuild/restore $$ at it.

I do now have a great source for OEM. Thanks! Which in a way I was mainly looking for the best go to place for rebuild parts.

If you're low on funds, broke, on a budget....dont spend money until you know exactly what you need, or you will most certainly go broke.

I'm passed the point of broke...

I purchased the bike using funds from an inheritance I received in January, and I'm dedicating the bike to her.

Had to spend that money quick before the black holes found it and sucked it up!
