Winter finally comes to Syracuse
« on: February 10, 2016, 02:10:42 PM »
I can hardly believe Syracuse is finally getting a little winter.  Got a whopping 3" on the ground.  Before you laugh we are supposed to get the good ole' Polar vortex blast this weekend.

If any of you guys want to take the remainder of my winter I would be so grateful.

You have probably gotten more winter down there than I have up here. ha,ha,ha.  A got a few inches where I live, but 20 miles north they got 10" in an hour.  Pretty wild.  So I can't complain.

Half way through February it is all down hill from here.  5 weeks from now I should have the bike out of the shed and ready to rip.  Might drop and 836 in the K1 to celebrate spring.

I hear on that one.  It is going sub zero this weekend.  Guess old man winter is reminding us he is not dead yet.  Still don't get all the global warming fuss.

Last night I came back from Albany, the car said it was 33 degrees, and it felt like 33. Less than seven minutes down the road the temps dropped to 13 degrees...in only seven minutes! Yeah, the polar vortex is here. A very windy and cold day today so far, we are expecting a -30 to -40 degree wind chill for the overnight. I was sooo liking those higher temps this winter.
A few Honda 500's, a few Honda 550's, a few Honda 650's, '72 cb 450, a couple 500/550/650 hybrids, and 2001 750.

Having spent 7 winters out in Minnesota I would call that "t-shirts & shorts" weather!  ;D ::)

I guess so!  Those who live in Minnesota are a hardy bread for sure.  You do any ice fishing while you were there?  I hear that is the big thing to do up there.

Talked to a guy a church and he said it was -20 below when he woke up Sunday morning to to the plowing.  Pipe burst at one of his properties.  Luckily the maintenance man spotted it early preventing thousands of dollars of damages.

That would have been quite a heavy loss compared to losing just a small ice fishing shed like they did in the movie  :D  sunk  :o

It's a week of 60+ high temps here with an 80 predicted this Thursday, and no rain predicted. Spring is just around the corner, but for some reason I think we'll have a March cold blast that will be a reminder of what winter is.

Surely this is heading east soon.
