Source for 14550-333-000 CB400F Tensioner Bar
« on: February 14, 2016, 09:14:30 AM »
Good Day Everyone -

When disassembling the engine on my '75 CB400F barn find, the cam chain tensioner bar was seized so tightly it had to be hammered out of its drilled passageway with a pin-punch. This is the spring-loaded plunger that exerts pressure on the horseshoe to preload the tensioner slipper - 14550-333-000

I'm in the process of re-assembling the engine now and despite spending a few months on the 'healing shelf', the tensioner bar still will not fit into its drilled passageway (I actually thought that a scrupulous cleaning and soda-blasting of the cases would miraculously fix the problem). I assume now that it has been damaged/bent either from the flailing chain, evidenced by gouges in the old horseshoe mount (which was also seized) and some small abrasive damage to the case half itself, or by the hammering necessary to remove it initially.

Anyways, to make a long story even longer - does anyone know where I can find a replacement? I thought for sure David Silver Spares, from whom I purchased the 'work-of-art' aluminum horseshoe, would have the bar itself but to my consternation, they do not. Neither do any of the other suppliers I have been using during this restoration. Any suggestions from the forum would be appreciated!

Thanks, Jerry. No tensioner bar listed but some other good stuff so they've been added to my bookmarks. Some judicious work with a set of small files has removed enough material that it can be fitted in its passage so hopefully that will work. Filing engine parts...!  :o
