PZ getting ready to move
« on: February 15, 2016, 07:28:18 pm »
Greg and I are working on getting PZ into northern CA. Most likely in March as the weather should be a tad bit more stable.  Anyone game for a ride?
Hey, Greg lets see a pic of PZ want to make certain he hasn't gotten too lazy lounging around your house.

Maybe up into the PNW? Been pretty quiet up that way (relay-wise) and it would be great to get some riders up that way involved.

Just kicking ideas around...

I think me and his brother will be checking things out in Daytona this weekend. Maybe do a split relay? I can do a handoff in Valdosta next month, unless someone wants to pick it up in Daytona Saturday and run with it!  8)

Or any weekend after that for that matter...  ;)

Oh, come on now! I seem to remember you riding through a snow storm across mountains and s desert to meet other riders riding across the continental divide through a snow storm to do the hand off..... That my friend WAS a pattern  ;)

Yeah, and that was almost 2 months later in the year than it is now.  We were lucky to be able to pull that one off and hit all the marks.  The power of persistence.  Whew, 5 years ago already.

I would take PZ in a second but it won't be on an SOHC--a Honda but not SOHC.  Does that count? ha ha

I am sure it would widened PZs experience :)

With my wife we explored Saltzburg and Berchtesgaden area in June 95, on Honda 750 - it was quite nice.

I've been watching the weather. We are still in a wet, cool pattern with snow above 4000', which a lot of my route will be.  They are even forecasting snow here in the valley Monday.  But I'd like to get this done, so how about if we tentatively figure on the weekend after next (Saturday the 2nd) and see how it goes?

Hi Greg:  I'm not going to be able to do it that weekend.  My mom went into the hospital last week and is now in rehab. I have to fly out to the East Coast at some point this month.  I will know exactly when by Wednesday then we can make plans?  Does that sound okay?

You bet.  Looks like we should start seeing a bit of a warming/drying trend so a little more time can't hurt.  I see they are forecasting nighttime snow in Lakeview again this week.

Your plan for the rendezvous will be ideal. I have Fri-Sat-Sun off every week, so riding down on a Friday and meeting Saturday will work great.

All the best to your mom.

Flying out on the 15th and returning the 25th.  So May it will be.  I can get Fridays off so this sounds perfect.  When I get back we can settle on a definite weekend and get PZ on the move.
Thanks for your well wishes.  She should be just fine with time and OT

Hi Greg (and anyone else that wants to get PZ on the move) how does the weekend of the 20th (which is a Friday I know) or the 26th or 27th (Thursday or Friday before Memorial Day) work for a ride.  Overall, I think it depends on what you have in mind Greg for where to meet up as to what days but those "weekends" work the best for me in May.  Thoughts?

Hi Lisa.  The 20th would probably work, as would the 13th.  There is a birthday party Memorial Day weekend for my aunt who turns 90, so that weekend I'll be there.  They don't give out 90th birthdays to a lot of people, so that is a little special.  She looks and acts like she is in her early 70s but her energizer bunny routine won't go on forever.

My original plan was to meet you in vicinity of Redding, which is roughly halfway between us, but I am amenable to other suggestions.  I'd leave here Friday morning, camp somewhere that night within striking distance, then we could meet up Saturday morning/afternoon.

Let me know.

The 20th it is.  So that would have us meeting on the 21st in Redding.  Just let me know where you want to meet and that sounds like a good plan.
Once I get PZ I think he will go to Europe with me and ride the Alps.  It wont be on a SOHC but it will be on a Honda so that should count for something!  Looking forward to meeting you.
