CB650SC Nighthawk -82
« on: November 05, 2020, 12:37:24 PM »
I bought a 650 from 82 which were one of my dreambikes as a teen.
I started by taking the front brake system apart, ordered all parts for the calipers and when in got them I found that the seals were to big but when checking several oem parts shops they were suppose to fit.
The caliper pistons in my bike are 27 mm but according to the oem lists they should be 30 mm.
Does anyone know if they were sold with different calipers because the original brake pads fit?

The CB650SC has different calipers than the other CB650 models, so that's probably where your disconnect is. The Nighthawk was new for '82, but they still made the other variants as well that year.

The two piston calipers were used starting in 1982, and were in 25mm, 27mm, 30mm, and 32mm piston sizes. I had a pair of 30mm calipers that came from a 1982 650SC, but my 1982 FT500 Ascot had a 27mm rear caliper, even though the manual said it should have had a 30mm caliper.
All of these calipers used the same pads, and are interchangeable.
