Rob (Artracing),

Your bike has been nominated for Bike of the Month November 2016.  Please post that you "accept" in the nomination thread:  http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,161227.0.html

I would have waited until its finished before nominating it, It will look completely different in a few weeks.... ;)

Hmm.  It's doubtful it will look different before it is shown at Barber this coming week.

I'm also going to AIM in Orlando if anyone is going
Already signed up for contest in the Custom Performance category.

Lots of people prefer the carbon fiber look and many like the original painted look.
It's always my plan to offer it both ways. It stays carbon until someone steps up to pay for white paint. :-)
The original HB1 prototype did have black tank and seat. So the bike will be correct in both cases.
Here is the prototype.

Made it to Barber Festival. I'm in the pits with Framecrafters.
It's Saturday and I'm taking the bike to Motorcycle Classics magazine bike contest. You can see it for most of the day.

Word has it that -- along with Barber and AIM Expo -- Rob aka Artracing visited Bimota USA and they liked what they saw, too. Hopefully, they'll give him some referrals for builds.

Do we have a budget for one of these rare repro's?

Not something to discuss online. You can spend from $25k to $65k for real Bimota.
Let's just say it's in the window. It's 6 months labor, research, design, testing, prototype, build. Etc.

Do you have any plans to sell just a frame?
No, not at this time. If you buy the frame, you have to buy a tank because its unique frame, that requires unique tank.
I doubt anyone would be interested in spending the same kind of money on custom frame and tank for the same money you would spend on entire new production bike.

More than one company makes these tanks.... ;)  Why would these frames be so expensive..?

Ought to be able to get into a frame and body set for $5k or so. Now that frame crafters has the jig it should be much easier the second time out. Even so it may be hard to justify depending since there are other special frames out there, some much lighter and more proven for our bikes.
All you gotta do is do what you gotta do.

Don't lose site of what this is all about. It's all about 1975 racing frame, that was state of the art for 1975. The odds of you seeing a real HB1, never mind own one is slim to none. Even the Barber museum doesn't have one.
Call it a clone or tribute bike. That's what it's  about.

I disagree, I know what you are trying to say but its only a frame, its not original, its a copy, there are a few frame makers making replica race frames for around 5 grand or less, some of these frames ,Harris F1 replica's for example, are far more complicated to make than the HB1 Frame, they are made in chromoly or Reynolds steel tubing, are brass welded and are under 5 grand to buy.  Its great to get all nostalgic about it, but it is only a frame..

Although the carbon fiber was painted over, I'm anxious to mount these next week.
Stay tuned
I add the original HB1 for comparison.

Got the leather seat for new original version.
My upholstery guy did great job, including matching the color to the frame.

Because it had the misfortune of going up against Irish Racer's beautiful build.
