Bimota HB1 Replica
« on: November 13, 2015, 02:23:40 PM »
I see someone is building a HB1 replica

http://huskyrestoration.com/?page_id=4662

Not the first time this has been done, I remember a French (?) guy built one years back, but the quality of the first steps looks very good. I wonder how the price will compare to the $100k + that orginals sell for.   Maybe they could spend a little cash on a web developer too.

Hello Guys

The Bimota HB1 is coming along. Had a few business delays.  Should start the frame build in a week. I have not been keeping up with my website. My Instagram huskyrestoration is more active.

The comment about "a replica has been done before" might be those horrible CB550 make over.  Building the full scale, I think has only been done once before, from what I have found in my research. My bike is the full deal.

The comment about the dash and USB, Yes, its gone. The dash ended up to tall, so I redesigned it.  The new photo is on Instagram and my website. I like it better. I'll put the USB under the seat for the Go Pro;-)

In order to get Po8 Brembos on the CB750 hubs, I had to do a custom triple tree to widen the forks. I added some tuneable offset bushings, while I was at it.

So the front end is done and carbon fiber front fender is on. Just finished carbon fiber HB1 seat. Looks great with Carbon Fiber tank.

Lots other items ready to go.

Enjoy
Rob

I hear you on the brake mounting, it was a struggle to get a six piston caliper on a Ceriani GP  fork.
You may want to start a build thread over in the Project Bikes Section..

The Ceriani mounts were not a problem. I know CAD and I have a CNC.  I was disappointed I had to give up Ceriani triple tree replica.
Just as well, I designed a new set  and machined in the adjustable offset. So that's a plus.

Maybe starting a thread over there is best.

I'll do that.
Thanks
Rob

Great effort Rob. It takes a lot of time, work and funding to get projects off the ground. ;)
