Pipemax software program
« on: February 01, 2010, 06:05:00 PM »
Anyone here ever use pipemax? it's a program that tells you the diameter and length of header for any particular engine. I wonder how our headers would compare to the optimal pipemax numbers.

Some of the guys on dragraceresults.com use it a lot to determine proper header sizing.

I have bought and used pipemax for tuning exhaust systems and it has been very promising to date. Replaced 2 single pipes on a twin with a 2-1 system off the pipemax dimensions and picked up 2 hp over 8-1100 range - I am not convinced about the secondary pipe diameter, but  the lengths seem spot on. It is an excellent little program and more importantly it helps you match up all the components in the engine - cam lift, inlet lengths, port diameters etc. so they all work in harmony. For the price it is definitely worth a go. If you want to punt me the engine data I will run it for you and send you the results if you like - it is very quick and easy to do.

Hi Peter, I'm Pietro from Berghem in northern italy (so no mafia, black moustache, pizza or mandolino...), I know we don't know each other, but we have the same name at least!
Would you be so kind to let me know the result for the race headers I'm trying to realize on my vf400f? I attach an image with the needed data. 4into1 (I suspect it is not realizable but worth a try) and 4into2into1.
Thanks in any case.
Pietro

Thanks Peter I attach an image with all the values. Could you let me know the max horsepower and the headers lenght?
Thanks
