Ubering Uber
« on: February 02, 2016, 02:27:31 PM »
I hhaven't been wrenching or riding much during winter/rainy season.  too wet to ride, too dark to see (Daylight savings time sucks), too cold to wrench, in my backyard, so I thought I find something else to do on my down time.  so, several weeks ago, a friend had to move oversea and left me a 200k miles 2009 Toyota Prius, at a very cheap price, so I took up on his offer.   now, I find myself ubering!

so, any uber drivers/riders on this side of the world?  lately, I have been ubering around town and find it a good additional source of income on your downtime.

what I can offer you folks, my uber discount code -----  aoqzw -----

if you are new to ride uber, sign up with my code you will get 1st ride free of up to $15 (you never know if you might be too drunk to ride your Honda! ;) )

if you are interested in driving with uber, you get $100 once you completed 20 trips (I think incentives $ depending on the city)

It is very popular here in NYC.

Not here in syracuse we fear progress and are darn good at it beating out detroit for the top spot in poverty.

Goldenarrow it really sounds like fun.  Glad to see you got a side hustle going.

hows it working out for you?  is it worth your time?

Its pretty popular here too....with all the commuters to Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Boeing, etc. in the area.

My situation is that I do long commute to work daily and put about 100 miles away round trip. So I thought might as well try out the uber to see if I liked it or not, and helping for gas.  Just driving Prius alone I'm cutting down gas expense by 1/2 than what I would pay if I drove my Honda element.

I have only been driving uber 1 week, going on my 2nd, picking up few rides on my way home, Usually about 2-ish hrs of ubering after work.  If calculate the earnings from it $/hr, probably not worth it for most folks who have full time job.

I'd say it is good side gig if you have nothing to do or have free time to waste. Longer ride is better than short rides though.

Have a friend who recently started ubering for a few extra bucks. Has been at it a couple of months and making some extra to help with bills. He just added "Lyft" as well. Says that seems real popular with the younger, college age crowd and has had days where he made more with Lyft than Uber. $175-200 days around the Philly area...especially with the blizzard!

Uber is really popular here in Seattle. So is Car2go. Even most of the taxi fleets have converted to Priuses. I guess its good to be conscious of what we put in the air.

I bought my CB750 after totaling up a year's worth of Uber trips in DC. The bike was significantly cheaper.

I can't personally get behind the bull#$%* premise of Lyft or Uber so I don't use either.

What if there was an Uber to rent a CB750 anywhere in the world would you be in then?

I don't have a bulletproof vest (yet), so I don't use Uber...
