Trying to mount the carbs on the rubber boots to the head. With the boots already on the intake manifolds, the carbs will not slide into the rubber boots, even tho I've lubed the opening with silicone grease. It seems these boots are not inline with each other: You can get #'s 1 and 2 carbs partially in the boot, but then 3 and 4 will not line up with the opening of the boots. If I start with #3 and 4, I get the same problem. Trying to get all four partially in at the same time not working, either; the carb throats won't all line up horizontally with the boot opening. I've rotated the boots a few degrees either way to see if that would help, but not enough to allow the carbs to slide in. These are aftermarket boots (OEM's no longer available)and are numbered, so mixing up the boots isn't the issue. Anyone else have this problem?
