Power there and all right coninuity through horn button so I have a broken/inoperable horn.

Can it be "freed" or serviced in any way before I dig in to the money chest again?
If you think there's light at the end of the tunnel it's usually another train !!

I wire 12 direct to the horn.  If it blows then  the switch is the problem.

Test the horn with a known 12V source to confirm it is dead. There is a small screw and nut on the back or the horn that applies some pressure to the inside diaphragm. By just releasing and fine tuning the screw it will sometimes start the horn working again, then lock down the nut on the screw again. You only need to make a fine adjustment here not a couple of turns.

Other times it is a dead horn and time to replace it
Common sense.....isn't so common!

My horn wasn't working when I bought the bike. I tried all of the external fixes and then carefully pried it apart. It was full of rust. I cleaned it out, sanded the contacts, made a new paper gasket, put it back together, and recrimped the edges. It works great now. I have a spare that works. I just wanted to see if I could fix it.
