Which is which ? Dunlop tire
« on: March 01, 2016, 06:48:28 AM »
Which tread is which ?    My searches keep turning up the same photo - with 2 different tire tread designs.   Just want to make sure that I'm getting what I think I am.

I want the one on the right.

The tire on the right is rear, left one is front.

Beware - these [cheap] tires have received poor reviews here.

If you order a 'Front' you'll get the one on the left. . .

Pictured are Front and Rear tread patterns.
Id google image search, or look on ebay (seller pictures) for the tire before you pull the trigger.

Uuuugh, that is an ugly tread for the front.   I had one of those on the rear of a bike I bought and it wore in the center horribly.   Trying to avoid a modern looking tire, but I'm starting to lean toward some Bridgestone BT45s.

K81 (TT100)on the right, K70 on the left. We used to race with the K81, in the old days they were the hot ticket. The K70 has a less rounded profile.

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/20560/i/dunlop-k81-rear-tire.     The front is the same pattern, shown here as a 4:10/19.

Or Avon Roadriders. They are nice.  8)

GJ - consider IRC GS11 as a decent tire with nice vintage tread. Made in Japan and very reasonable, I have them on my 550F. And available in proper inch size...

I've removed a few of those big 4:10-19 front tires from some old 750's I have bought. Think there were a hot tip 'back in the day'.

There were 3:60 or 4:10x 19's available. Like most, I used them on the race track (production classes) until the mid 70's and it was the best "street" tire available then. Modern tires today are way better and wear longer.

Go with the BT-45s. I have been using them for years. They do wear a bit faster. I had one go flat at 75mph and it did not fall apart. I will trade more grip for a little faster wear.
