Separating outer clutch basket from primary drive
« on: March 02, 2016, 11:10:36 AM »
I've sorted out where I'm getting my bearings, and the machine shop to do the groove grinding, but I'm having trouble getting at the last bearing on the main shaft. How do I get the outer clutch basket away from the primary drive sprockets so I can pull it? There was obviously the main clutch nut, not a huge issue, and then there was a circlip that I thought held the basket on, but it seems to be going nowhere fast...

Never mind, I got it thanks to this site: http://vorhese.blogspot.ca/2011/06/how-to-remove-cb750-clutch-drum-and.html

She's on there tight, so you have to use a puller. I guess getting it back on will need a minor press fit or something...

I had to use a puller on my extra basket. It is the drive hub that has thicker axis. My other 2 drive hubs fits looser in same clutch basket.
The 3-arm puller did not much force to get it out. The force has to be applied evenly.
Same with the grooved ball bearing.
Really loose fit on one hub can be taken off with fingers, other drive hubs have tighter fit.

You have removed the circlip?  Older drive hubs have no circlip, axis shorter nad use wider spline washer.
