New member in Buffalo

Hey all,

I have been meaning to introduce myself for a awhile now but finally getting around to it. I just recently bought a 1975 CB750F with the intention of doing a cafe build. Its in such good shape that I'm starting to second guess that decision and may only make some small easily reversible alterations like bars and seat. Excited to learn and discuss with all of you

Damn dewd, you chop that up and I may have to kick yer ass...  Just kidding of course but that is WAY too nice to mutilate!! Find another one to play with.

Totally stock from what I see except for the titty grips and the muffler. The master cylinders are not even faded. Build date 3/75? Later model rear master cylinder without the nylon cup. The 75's were only built through the first week of 4/75 before they switched to a 76 model designation and changed the colors.

I've had mine since 4/75 so if you need any info just get in touch.

haha I know, that's what I have come to the conclusion about. Won't be doing any chopping to this bike. Other than a small dent in the tank its in perfect condition. Even has assembly paint on a lot of the nuts.

Awesome thanks Jerry, I'm sure you'll be a wealth of knowledge on this bike. One question I have is after rebuilding the carbs I tested the slides and they were moving well but as soon as I put it back in the bike the throttle was pretty slow to return as well as being pretty stiff to open. Is this normal for that bike? Maybe just needs new cables?

Could be the routing of the cables. Can you post up a picture showing how you have them routed from the steering neck back? If my phone was working I'd shoot you a copy of the picture from the manual.

+1 ... you better not chop that thing up!  We'll let you put some super bars on it, though!

I believe I saw this bike listed on Craigslist, was it around $2500?

Here are some pictures of the cable routing. This is how it was when I got it. I did discover a small fray in the return line which may be part of the issue. I'm getting new cables as a precaution.

Steve-o, yeah it was listed on Craigslist in PA  about 3-4 weeks ago

Trying to do this without taking either tank off. Comparing your pics to the Honda bible:

You look good up top where both cables go through with the brake hose.

Route the pull cable under the tank mount rubber but NOT through the handlebar wires holder and up over the coil through the triangle then down to the carbs.

Route the push cable also under the tank mount rubber below the coil and below the bottom cross member that forms the triangle which the pull cables goes through.

If the cables move freely on their own then the cables are not an issue. If you have the control assembled correctly and the throttle moves freely on it's own then that's good too.

Besides this the carb throttle return spring should snap the throttle back easily/strongly and the carb rods should not bind in their up and down motion after re-installation. Maybe a little lube on the slides in the bores and the rubber 'grommet' on the carb tops will help. When you adjust the cables you need just a very slight slack on the throttle grip.

So far I see a re-route of the push cable in order. Wish my phone was working! I'd get you some bike pictures and the diagram on page 243 of my Honda shop manual.
