CB750 Confusing Vin
« on: March 06, 2016, 09:33:44 AM »
Hi everyone. I always wanted a CB750. Found one in a basement. I just unloaded this CB750 a few minutes ago and tried to check out the vin and engine numbers. Frame # is CB750 - 2538154 , Engine # is CB750E - 2420677. Checked in the production info on this site and the VIN seems to not fit in. Date of production on the frame is 12/1974. I do not have registration is on the way in a few days. But that does not mean much when they were left overs and sold as next model year.

Looks like your frame is a K5 and engine is a K6.

What are you confused about?
'74 "Big Bang" Honda 750K [836].....'76 Honda 550F.....K3 Park Racer!......and a Bomber!............plus plus plus.........

Confused due to the fact that I am new to this. Been restoring cars since I was 16. Change of sport I guess. The production info says that 1974 units were sold into the 1975 model year?

A bike manufactured in December '74 would have been for the 1975 model year.

My K5 was also built in December of '74.

Just like cars, the next years models begin production the previous year.

For example, my '67 Mustang was built in August of '66.  :)
