Bees, Birds, and now Snakes
« on: March 06, 2016, 05:25:04 PM »
I was riding some back roads in northern Kentucky five years ago on my BMW 1100GS. I was on a paved single track road and was riding a high ridge which gave a me a really nice view of the valley below. I spotted a large hawk coming uphill in my direction and I slowed to a first gear crawl to watch the bird. He or she went into a dive and came up with what I first thought was a stick. Why would this hawk need a stick? As it got closer I noticed it wasn't a stick, but a snake and it was making a beeline towards me. This is SO cool I thought until the pair got over me and the hawk released or maybe lost its grip on the snake. Whatever the reason, this snake dropped right on my bike between the tank bag and the handlebars. I never have or will I ever get a kickstand down and get off a bike that fast again. The snake wiggled his way off, dropped and made for the ditch. I am not the type to freak out over a spider or snake, but when they drop out of the air I tend to get a bit shook up. I guess the first thing I did was look around to see if anyone had witnessed what had to be a funny sight. I made sure the GS was snake free and stopped at the first place that had a STRONG cup of coffee and a restroom so I could check my underwear for any snake triggered emissions  :o

That is funny, glad it wasn't me on the receiving end of the snake. Also Glad I have nothing to contribute in the way of snakes and  bikes...LARRY

I was reading a thread awhile back on hondatwins.net where the guy was restoring an early CB450 'Black Bomber' that had been sitting outside in a field most of it's life and found a complete snakeskin inside the frame so he called the thread "Black Mamba'.
75' CB400F/'bunch o' parts' & 81' CB125S modded to a 'CB200S'
I love the small ones too !
