« on: March 07, 2016, 08:26:09 AM »
Is there a way to tell if oil is getting to my top end?  78 CB550.
Thanks,

take off a tappet cover while your bike is running
check both sides.

Thanks

oil should be splashing around a bit, keeping everything wet.

Make sure its running, kicking it over by foot wont generate enough pressure..

To be safe you can pull the plugs. No compression on cylinders. Pull tappet covers on 1 and 4. Intake or exhaust. Hit starter and look for oil. It will be obvious. Sometimes it takes while to get oil up to the valve train, especially if you pulled the oil pump, so do not freak out if it takes a little while.
