CB650 Reg/Rec in a CB550
« on: March 08, 2016, 06:15:27 PM »
Can a CB650 reg/rec (SH236-12) be used in a CB550?

I have found the following post that describes using this unit in a SOHC 750: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,48275.0.html
Based on the above thread I think I can but wanted to see what you all thought. I also intend to run a LiFePo4 battery which seem to be pretty particular about over charging, another reason I want to get rid of the original regulator.

I'd stick with a modern solid state unit from Ricks personally. If the R/R you're referring to is from a DOHC 650, then it would require modification similar to the thread you referenced.
