Vintage CBX Pro Stocker
« on: October 09, 2015, 04:47:31 AM »
A few pics of the CBX I rode in the early 80's. Best pass was 9.20 when the National record was 8.80.  It did not have a very hi compression ratio and the motor could have been 100 cc's bigger for the PS weight break.

It was featured in Car Craft in 82.  I still have the bodywork and will some day build a recreation.

Started building a car tire CBX in the late 80's but it had been on hold since then. I have a lot of motor pieces for it.....A replica Clyde Day head with titainium valves and retainers, Carrilo rods, Falicon crank, MRE 5 speed auto.

I bought Kosman wheels for it without hubs and whittled my own style with integral disc carriers.

Yes they were heavy Morris mags, both 18 inch, front was a WM1, rear was a WM6...... if I remember right.   Sold the chassis decades ago.

The Wm 6 was probably. Magnesium,  unless. They widened an aluminum one.
I would think they were relatively light..compared to stock.
There was a WM 6 magnesium morris a while back on ebay UK.. Went cheap, but shipping was more than the wheel..

That is some really nice chassis work. Did you cut it, bend it, weld it?

Please post more pictures of the Turbo 750 chassis.

Nice looking small tire PS bike. And the car tire chassis was coming along nicely. Would have been great to see it completed and in competition. Have you completely hung up your leathers at this point??

Yes they both were magnesium.  And both heavier than the similar sized Kosman wire wheels from that era.   Too bad I missed the eBay UK wm6.....I am looking for a set for the recreation project.

Yes I had the tubes bent, then I cut, fitted, and did the welding.  Had a flat steel table and fixtured the motor and axles and fork to it and went at it.

The car tired CBX is my next project to finish and I plan to ride it.  I sold my leathers in the mid 80's .....but bought a used set to run Bonneville and ECTA meets the last 2 years with my Z1R TC.

Back to work on the CBX project.  Looking at Aero for windscreen/fairing...... The dash panel blocks my view if I get my helmet any lower.
