Were GoldWings Matching Numbers ?

Were Gold Wings unlike a CB where it was very rare to have a matching numbers bike, or did they come with matching numbers?

I did a search and they are like the CB, the factory never intended for them to be matching numbers. A guy on another forum was saying how he had to make his non matching due to an issue with his stock cases. It turns out he meant he replaced his damaged 75 cases with a set of 76 cases, so they would not be the correct matching year, but not VIN.
That said, I'm surprised you don't know if yours are matching or not. My guess is they are not.

They are non matching just like the CB models. They too have production year numbers that could affect the case of a 75 motor into a later year.

The Limited Edition 1976 GL 1000 model for the USA 200 year Centennial is a special model. The Vin off the frame and motor don't match on these either, yet it is the best way to confirm you have or are buying the real deal.
Common sense.....isn't so common!
