You really went all out with that custom ramp! :o  I've done that a few times in various moves, but always just used the truck's ramp.  A little scary, but also kind of fun.

i want to see a vid when you get there of a side shot of the truck.  then you, without the assistance of any ramp, launch out of the back of the truck and keep on riding to investigate your new TX territory.

Yea, I didn't fool around with the ramp, considering  1:  the Goldwing wet with me on it weighs about 780 lbs....and 2:  I had to back it out and down the ramp.

I'd like to do an audio of the CB rappin' out.....doesn't sound like your typical, with its 836 and billet cam, growls like a banchie.

The nylon strapps worked perfectly!  The bikes didn't move at all, and I didn't have to go back and retighten them either.  'Course around DelRio the road was bad enough that I did 35-40mph some, but it all went very well.

Marfa?  Marfa?  As in out-in-the-middle-of-nowhere Marfa?  As in the Lights, Marfa?  On the way to the Big Bend?

I've broken down out there (twice!); it'd be a long walk just to get to nowhere!

It is pretty, though.

Still, I didn't know people move *to* Marfa.  Are there ghost planes flying out there at night?

 ;) :)

I have a long term customer in San Antonio...I'd been maintaining his house and rent houses there and in Austin.  He bought a couple commercial (old Marfa hotel and...)  buildings in Marfa.  He wanted someone to oversee the contractors and all work performed, so I said "hell yea"!  Here I am. 3 to 4 years for both buildings.  I'm not going back to SA except to visit.

Went to the McDonald Observatory the other day.  It's a little over 40 miles.

(360 inch telescope)


...and view toward Marfa, which is 10 miles on the other side of the second ridge in the background.


Some heavy weight twisties from the nearest ridge to the ovservatory.

I know the area, and work with a woman from there.  A fella can really hear himself think out there.

Marfa is great. I love that part of Texas.

Good for you. Next time I head to Big Bend, I will let you know and we can get some riding in out there.

I have spent many evenings on the side of the road looking out into that field watching those lights.

Beautiful country. Congrats. I am jealous.

That wimpy aluminum ramp is probably rated for 1500 lb. - you would have done fine without the reinforcement.  However, a little bracing could prevent the bounce caused by 1100 lbs of bike and rider hitting it at 15 mph.  Those aluminum ramps can also be treacherous when wet!

Mostly I put the extra supports and plywood on....just incase for some unknown reason I had to stop and put my feet down.
