1977 CB750A is new to me
« on: March 14, 2016, 11:16:18 AM »
I just got this bike in a deal with my brother and mom. They took a running 1977 CB750A and a sidecar back to Richmond with them and I am here with my bike in parts-ish.

As for the bike in Richmond, we had some troubles getting it up and running. Front brake had to be cleaned a ton and really worked over, decided to stay with the old rubber lines for now. The carbs got cleaned and now we are working on getting them synced. As of this moment, the bike sits at a really high idle in neutral and is happy in L and D. I assume I will have these same issues on my bike... which is true so far with my newly rebuilt brakes.

Is there anything special I should know as I work on getting this bike back on the road? Best place to get parts? I know right now I am in need of a headlight and left turn signal. I was kinda of thinking about doing a different seat than the normal (especially since I don't have the original). With that light blue I was thinking it would look good with a really simple, baseball mitt leather seat pan style.

Howdy!   Be sure to download the shop manual. There's a link in this thread.

Should be helpful getting the carbs sorted out. :)
Do you have a copy of the Honda Shop Manual or Parts List for your bike? Get one here:

Good diagrams and you can zoom in on them as well.  Good reference and they do have parts you can order,  but i just use it for the diagrams and to get part numbers when ordering from local shops or through US on-line searches etc.  I have gotten a lot of the parts you can no longer get new through ebay mainly or I have bought a parts bike as well.  And always post on here for parts you may be looking for a lot of great people here are always willing to help!

Good Luck.

Side panel will run you $50-100 on Fleabay.  Only one right now listed under "Honda cb750a side cover"  It has two cracks if you dont mind repairing it /and fixing the previous attempted repair LOL. Its $50 or best offer.  I'd offer him $30 if you wanna fix it.  You will have to keep watching but good ones will pop up eventually.
