front shock travel
« on: November 11, 2006, 12:42:25 PM »
what would the minimum  acceptble wheel travel be for a cb500/4 front wheel? I have a plastic fender I am going to mount inplace of the metal one, and it will have between 4-5 inches of travel before it hits the underside of the 1/2 fairing I'm trying to install. will I be banging into the fariing? can't remember how much travel the forks normally have.  I plan to stiffen w/heavier fork oil as well as add  fork spacers  and air chucks on fork caps for extra stiffness

many thanks,

hym

Put a zip tie around your fork slider down by the seal and hold the front brake and compress the front end.  The zip tie will slide up and you'll see how much room you've got.
