early 550/750 front brake caliper piston interchangability

Will an early 750 caliper piston work in an early 550 k? They look identical except the 550 version has a staked cover
over the top, where as the 750 is hollow. Anyone ever do this?

The early 750 piston had a domed "cover". Why not upgrade to a phenolic piston?
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

I have a brand new 750 piston laying around not in use. I wondered tho if I could use it (without the cover) in a 550 caliper?
Haven't seen parts fisch yet, just wondered if it'd work.

edit: Saw parts fisch, this will not work. please disregard
