CB550 oil pump
« on: March 16, 2016, 08:17:05 AM »
Still trying to get oil pressure in my CB550.  Is it possible to put it together wrong?  I did take it all apart and the only difference I could see in the gear when I put it back together was it appears that there is little dimple on one side and not the other.  Is there a difference in the gear from one side to the other?
Thanks,
Curt

Just throwing this out there....... are you sure your oil pump pickup and screen are in correctly? Might not be getting oil to the pump. As far as the oil pump goes i couldnt tell ya, ive never taken one apart.

Thanks for the reply. Just had the oil pan off and replaced the screen.  Before I put oil back in and fire it up I want to make sure every thing is in order.  Last thing I want to do is take the top end off and recheck everything.

So are you just turning the motor with the kicker or starter to see if it makes pressure? I dont beleive it will make pressure until its actually cranked and running.
