US not RA but I did my time.
Likewise. We were just the other kind of volunteer.
Besides, back then you didn't have to volunteer. You knew they were coming for you anyway. ![Grin ;D](http://forums.sohc4.net/Smileys/default/grin.gif)
True Bob but, at least if you volunteered, you had
somewhat of a say as to what you
did and where you were going. I was still in high school, when I signed up on the delayed
enlistment for the Air Force and actually went in on August 19, 1966. My Dad is the reason that I
did that reserve time. After I got Discharged from the Air Force, He started telling me that I
should apply for a Dual Status Civil Service job, which meant that if you were to be hired for the
job, you had to join the Army Reserves as part of the deal. Well, I finally listened to him, applied
for a Civil Service Mechanic job at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, was hired Dec 26, 1972 and joined the
Army Reserves on Feb, 1973. Put in 24 yrs there and retired as an Equipment Inspector after
being in 2 different levels of maintenance. We worked alot of the equipment that came from
Arkansas to go to Kuwait and also worked with equipment that went to Honduras for
Humanitarian Projects and went to Honduras to prepare the equipment for return to the states.
