Anyone running Metzler Lazertech ?
« on: March 03, 2011, 04:18:26 PM »
Hi,

My local tire guy is recommending Metzler Lazertech tires, mainly I think, because he has them in stock.

They seem fine to me but I'm a noob.  I bought the bike with Kenda Challengers which are still new. As I have gotten the bike in better shape I am starting to ride it more. I felt like I was washing out in a few curves - I'm not sure if it was the tires or how this bike handles.

I live in LA so between dodging cagers and the nearby twisties, I think I want tires that handle real, real well.

I looked up the Challengers on the Kenda's website it said "NOT for high load carrying capacity motorcycles" - I am 240lbs and the bike is 500lb - Which I think makes me a "high load"… so definitely want  new tires now and open to suggestions.

I was trying to find Avons when I spoke to this guy, but they seem hard to locate.

Oh, -  anyone interested in Kendra Challengers? Still some nubs, "almost like new". Very Cheap.

Great tires.  And you can get them in the proper inch sizes rather than the metric "close enough by salesmen standards" which is what they probably have in stock.

3.25 19 front and 4.00 18 rear.  It's what I put on my 77 CB750F.  They work very well.  No complaints.

Be sure your swingarm bushings are not shot first. You may have a swingarm rebuild in your future to properly attack those twisties without fade- tires don't mean jack if your swingarm is not operating properly.

I run Metzlers, brilliant tires after using some Korean suicide ones that came with the bike, check your tire pressure, my bike used to try to throw me on corners and it turned out to be too low air pressure, I'm 105 kilos so no lightweight myself. ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Even Korean "suicide" tires would be an upgrade to my ancient Dunlops!!!
Meka, as much as I need cheap tires, do a thorough check on your swing arm bushings as well as your steering head bearings before you spend money on tires...

My bike with me on it weighs less than your bike alone; I certainly do not have a "high load". ;) Still interested...
