76 CB550 K2 Lower Triple Threaded Hole
« on: March 23, 2016, 08:26:15 PM »
I've searched and searched for this answer, but can't find squat.

Bike is in storage 45 minutes away, otherwise I would check myself.

Going to mount a damper using the threaded hole in the lower triple so need to know the answers to the following questions so I can get correct hardware.

1) M6 or M8?
2) How about the pitch?
3) How thick is the lower triple?

Many thanks in advance!

No. There's a lot of questions that I don't even try to answer here for fear of giving the wrong information. When there's one I know I can help out with it makes me feel like I've accomplished something. I'll try to recall this positive feeling in the coming weeks when I have to deal with the pile of parts that will need to go back together at some point or, at the very least, get swept into a tidy mound in the corner. Preferably out of sight.

Hope you're well my friend.

Haha! Sorry, but I won't be chiming in on your motor assembly. However, I will be getting the popcorn ready, as I may end up in the same boat someday.

Thanks again! All is well here... we missed the snowstorm. Guessing you didn't? North Dakota sucks so bad that even snowstorms avoid coming here.

I see how you are. I was hoping to get started this week but I have a few more parts coming. Part of me thinks that I could just keep ordering parts bit by bit (one wrist pin clip this week) until people just forget about the project and then I can fade away. I've stared at things down there a lot the last few days. Also had a few talks with various pieces and parts just to set the mood and let them all know my expectations for them to all but put themselves back together. I won't tolerate insubordination. Just gonna work very slowly and I won't confirm nor deny that some folks here are on speed dial and that I don't recognize separate time zones.

And there was no escaping the storm today. 65 and sunny yesterday and 21" of snow today.

As clever as that sounds (damn you are brilliant) I'd be the one to do this with a swagger reminiscent of Gary Cooper. Only to notice, shortly thereafter, that one of the new pistons was missing.
