That has yet to be determined  :-\
Where their is a will, their is a way.
I will get them on one way or another.
They may never come off again , but I will get them on  ;D

Here's the latest paint idea for the 450 project.

Gloss black with the side "panels" in gloss red. Then I could maybe paint the seat red, then have the black pad for
contrast ?I really like the way this bike looks, but I am still not sure... ::)

Personally speaking I think the red sides with black on top (as shown) looks kind of cheap and tacky. Never really been a fan of that style - looks too home-made if you know what I mean. I like stripes - pinstrips or racing stripes myself but not solid panels. Just a thought.

Anyway good luck with it -watching with interest.
cheers

The seat pad and lower legs are staying black on this bike (as they are now)
Never been a fan of bikes with bright red wheels - lower legs - and for sure colored seats :P
And their aren't gonna be any knee dents pounded/cut into this tank (it is too nice to mess up)..

I can see what you mean by the word "cheap". My buddy who is building the "starship" bike did something similar, but he didn't go all the way to the top with the "panel". His looks allot better, but I cant have the exact same paint design on my bike as he does (that would just be ghey!) I will figure something out, just need to keep looking at other bikes and find something I like..

* Project Update 1/17/07 *
[/size]

The CB450 project is kinda hanging out in the garage at the moment (way too cold to work in the garage). I have been slowly allocating parts to finish up the project once the weather breaks (cables/air filters/etc)
Got the real K&N filters today from Summit..

They still need to be "honed out" alittle so they will slide over the carbs, and oiled but you get the idea.
Just another example of high performance car stuff used on a classic bike..  ;D

The FINAL decision has been made to leave the bike the way it is paint wise. The tank is going to stay how it is, and the headlite bucket and seat are gonna get sprayed low-gloss black (to match the other black bits on the bike..This way I don't have to worry about picking a paint color, and the bike will have alittle retro/older feel with the oldschool/original paint on it..

Another decision has been made as well on this project, IT IS FOR SALE !
I am gonna finish the bike &get it running, but once that happens it is gonna be up for grabs.
I have done allot of thinking the past few weeks about my current "fleet" of vechiles, and their is no room for the 450, and maybe even the 750. But I know 4 certain the 450 will be sold. I have neglected my 55 too much, and need to get some things cooking on that project for once..

So, if anyone is all about this bike and wants it, let me know.
If someone wants the bike but wants it built/finished in a certain way let me know.
If not thats cool too, just throwing it out their is someone might be interested..

More updates/pics to come....

Yeah,  The riding weather will hit, you'll take the 750, or maybe the 450 out for a spin, you'll be hooked again and thing'll be fine. ;D ::) Besides, if your 55' needs some time spent and the 450 is gonna be finished, what's to keep ya from working with the 55'? ???

Once the CB450 gets finished I have a small list of items that need to be adressed on the CB750 (turn signals/paint/etc..). That along with the women keep me from doing what I wanna do on the bikes/car (and the lack of money)..

And I thank you, and everyone else that has helped me move all of these CB parts I have.

It is looking like I am gonna be keeping the CB750 and the 55 (of course) and selling off the CB450 once the beast gets finished. I am in a full court press to get some $$ for a new crate motor 4 the Bel-Air.

Glad to see your project is moving along.

What diameter tires are you running?

By moving the electrics under the seat, did you have to lenghten any of the wires for the components?

Thanks and Good Luck

True, the bike is up for sale "as is" , but if no one picks it up I still am gonna finish it and get it going as planned. Plus a finished/rideable bike is always more attractive then one in pieces..

Got my custom drilled rotor today in the mail from Elcheapo Tom at Anubis Cycle -->
Needs to be sanded smooth and have the center re-sprayed, and then it will be ready to go on the scoot.
I would be out in the garage today (if it wasnt 30 below outside). I dont work in the garage no matter how many heaters
I have when it's this cold out, let alone go to work (played hookie today ;D)..

Stay tuned...

For the next owners safety please don’t fit that disc give them an option of an un drilled disc, some of those holes look far to close together! If you think it’s cool who am I to argue.

Hey Biffta, Im curious about your comment - what difference does it make if the holes are like that i.e. too close together? Will it weaken the rotor? Can you explain?

thanks!

The holes would not be a problem in the ideal world, but holes so close together and the piston that pushes against the 30 year old steel that may have got hot and cold many times that will be more brittle than on production day, any unevenness in the disc (that disc looks like it had a grinder on it) plus the holes are not good! it could cause a crack or even a break in the metal not good on a front brake IMHO.

Cheers, biffta

PROJECT "SLiM" UPDATE 2/12/07

- Who knew how much controversy would be started with the posting of the rotor pic ?
Elcheapo and I have talked, and a new rotor is going to be drilled before the bike hits the streets.
He has updated his process, as my rotor was more of a "learning" rotor than anything..

- After hanging with the fellow Chicago Ton-Uppers over the weekend, it looks as if the CB450 project is back on. It will still most likely be sold when completed, but I atleast want to finish the project before I sell it off. Currently I am in search of some Scrambler/CL pipes to be the start of my wicked exhaust I have planned for the bike. The idea is to go down the left side of the bike, then thru the hole I made (where the sidecovers used to be), and exit out somewhere on the right side of the bike. Once all is done the exhaust will be sprayed with a few coats of high-temp paint, and then wrapped with black headerwrap. I found some killer "gun drilled" exhaust tips that I plan to use to finish everything off.. I want the exhaust to be one of the main focal points of this build. I plan to debut it at the upcoming Mods Vs.Rockers III show this June...

As soon as the weather breaks, I will be back out it the garage building away.
As I said, all of the hard/big projects on the bike are complete, now it just needs to be finished...

Stay tuned.. ;D
