I can't imagine getting into every single nook and cranny completely removing the original paint by hand, especially considering that we can't really get aircraft stripper in Canada it seems (I have pure methylene chloride, but on its own, it evaporates too fast to do much).
I read somewhere that you can just clean all the grease off, scrape off any loose paint, and paint over with a self etching primer, followed by a colour coat? Is that reasonable, or will I end up with a crap finish?
I'd get it bead blasted, but I worry about mating surfaces and such...
