Close to Stock II. Nearing completing. Plenty of photos
« on: March 22, 2016, 12:25:33 PM »
I've had this bike for about 4 years now.  Usually, it's my daily rider.  I cobbled it together from parts leftover or scrounged over the years.  It was such a reliable friend that I decided to give it a cosmetic work over.    I think it has somewhere between 18-21k miles on it - who really knows.   It ran strong, never smokes and never leaks any oil.    So, over the holidays, I blew her apart and spent long hours cleaning and cleaning and cleaning.   Took all the bolts down and had them re-plated.   Ordered a set of DSS re-pop 341s and a new seat.  Got her some new tires and some other bits and pieces and went to work.

Have a few other projects as well.   Might as well paint them all...

I like painting.  Wish I had a proper paint booth.  Used some of DonDirtbikers paint kits.  For the price, they are really a good value.   I'll lay some more clear on them after I get the stripes down.  But I'm pleased with the results.

Better view of the paint.

So close.  Got the tail light installed last night.  I'll post a better photo later.

I wish I had a little buddy that would clean and polish all my parts so I could just assemble clean stuff.

Don't we all. If I was Major Nelson, bike restorations would be so much easier. Youngsters may have to Google that one.  Your build looks great, I like the color scheme.

Well crap...  put about 100 miles on her and I discovered a small weep of oil.   Didn't leak before the teardown so I'm hoping that a few more heat cycles and it goes away.   Or maybe, it I can find it's origin, I'll try a tiny bit of sealant around the area.  There's a chance that it came from the valve cover and I missed it.
