If you could tell me more about Brent Adams and his builds, I'd like to put an article up on www.sohc4.net under the Customs section.
Glenn, thanks for your interest. Let me do some looking around and see what else I can come up with. He was a part of Texas' history of performance builders, and I am sure more of his bikes are mothballed in garages waiting to get discovered. Right now here is the most I know, I dont want to give incorrect info.
Brent Adams, operated Adams Quadracycle in Austin Texas on South Lamar for many years. Later was re-named Texas Muscle Bikes. He closed up shop around 1995 or so. His wife Monica Adams raced motorcycles in the past and worked with him in the shop. Besides working on bikes, he sold parts and accessories, and was a long time Vanson dealer in Austin. Brent was also partial to PM wheels on his builds.
Brent specialized in Honda SOHC engines, and built bikes that set championship speed times, racing againt the young Vance/Hines and folks like Russ Collins. I remember seeing RC big bore blocks in his shop, and by looks of his custom plaque he put on motors, built a supercharged SOHC engine. In the later years, Brent installed a DynoJet dyno and offered this tuning service to folks. One of his mechanics was a nice guy Jerry that worked for years with Brent. Monica helped run the business, ordering parts, selling accessories, ect.
Brent also built numerous other bikes, such as big bore GS1100s, Kawasaki GPZ 550, and my 84 900 Ninja. I remember a very cool and rare Bimota in his shop for years, that had a Suzuki GS motor built up, and PM wheels.
Brent was a special character......known to be opinonated and a bit ornery, but also was a straight shooter and honest guy. It was a pleasure to work with him. A cigar and dry sense of humor were never far away.
I am intereseted to find out more details about him and his motorcycles, if you or anyone else knows of his bikes still around, or know about his history would be great to document it.
Thank you!
