Good day all,

While I may seem very distracted, it is because I am (!)  I have so much going on with my RZ500 and my stepson's Yamaha and my own Triumph...  But anyway excuses are like...  But yes, because I have not yet achieved the 5 post rule, I cannot post any of the photos I have questions about.  Still, this question may not require a photo.

I got a good manual and started breaking down the encrusted carbs.  Some things I found in this process make me wonder if these were the original carbs or not, and what if any "performance mods" may have been done to them, or if they are simply that worn out.  The main rod that links them all together does seem to have some bearings in places, but all I found was pieces of them, half circles of a bearing enclosure.   Removing the tops of each carb, they did not all have the same degree of up and down motion.  And this was not just the left pair from the right pair, this was within a pair.  Flattening the lock washers and removing the bolts, some had a rod fall out of the top another did not.

Long story short, am I best trying to collect all these missing parts, or should I send what I have to someone that already has them for them to reassemble??  And if so, do you have any recommendations?   I ran into this problem with my RZ.  Being as there are no parts available for it in the USA, I sent some things off to a great guy in MO. that has a large supply of parts already.  Me getting them from Singapore or Australia would take a long long time.

As always gents, I can't wait to get this baby up and running, so all your help is appreciated.

A slight burr on a shaft left by a screw holding it in place can prevent shafts from falling out. Then if it has a clamping detension system that may hold it tight on some but be loose on another. Llts of things can come into play and that isn't even accounting for  a build up of deposits on a shaft such as varnish...
But, conjecture is wasting time without knowing the bike.

So, tell us some details on the carbs and bike. Photobucket, flickr, etc hosting sites or even Drive or your personal webspace provided by your email provider can be linked.

I'm not really following, hopefully once you upload pictures I can understand what you're talking about.  I have an RZ350 that I rebuilt last year.  I wonder if the RZ500 has a similar bank of carbs but there are just two of them.  This section is for SOHC bikes so it will probably get moved to "other bikes."
