I did a total frame up on a '67 TR6R about in '95. I showed it several years at the Mid-Ohio Vintage Days and did very well showing it. It really is an easy bike to work on. But, buying the tools are a must, IMHO. I did almost all my tool and parts buying from British Only and have nothing but good to say about them. Of course I made them a little money as well, but when I sold the bike, I did very well also. All Triumphs need to have their cranks sludge trap cleaned out when they are tore down. The engine seems to live as long as it takes for the sludge trap to become full. Also, on the '67 only bikes, there is an oil meter system that feeds the exhaust cam. These has to be clean to be working. Many '67's have bad exhaust cams because of this problem. Mine was one of them. Yes, you can make a Triumph oil tight as well. Mine never had any oil issues at all after I rebuilt it. It was as tight as my K3. I could sit by the hour, just looking at the TR6R. I thought it was a very pretty bike.
