1977 Honda CB750F Has No Oil Pressure
« on: May 12, 2016, 06:43:28 AM »
Just had my 1977 Honda CB750F rebuilt  from bottom up.  Shop put in during rebuild a 836 kit.  Got bike back and oil pressure at start-up is running 73psi.  After riding the bike for about 30 minutes at 80 degrees Fahrenheit, the oil pressure on my 100 psi analog gage drops to 0. Low oil  pressure light does not come on and no internal noise in engine, though I don’t wait but a second then to turn bike off. I have checked the bike with 2 oil filled 100psi analog gages and get the same readings. Also at cylinder fin I'm reading 265 degrees F. Is there documentation out there stating the specs for running temp. and oil pressure.

Thanks for any help..

Take it back.

My first guess is that too much sealant was used and it clogged the oil pump screen, or the oil jets in the head.
If so inclined, drain the oil and drop the oil pan.

If he looses pressure, that's not an indication of oil jet clogged.  Check the oil tank as son as you can when this happens and see if there's oil in the tank.  Sounds to me like the feed lines in/out of the tank are clogged or the check valve in the pump is stuck shut.  Could also be something up with the oil filter too.

Could also be not enough oil
Check the tank level after it warms up a bit

What's your plug chop look like? You didn't mention re-jetting the carbs?
