New guy - new bike
« on: March 19, 2016, 06:38:26 AM »
Hello everyone,

New guy here from MD. Grew up riding dirt bikes, but my '76 CB400F is my first street bike. Overall in good shape. Needs a little work (knock on wood). Has just over 17K mikes. Just pulled the carbs for a good clean - here's hoping I can get them back on the air box - any suggestions?

Thanks!

You can revitalize the stock boots with some Wintergreen oil. Also, use of a ratchet strap to help pull the box evenly onto the boots is a trick some members have used. But supple boots makes the whole job a great deal easier.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. OCW85, get some JIS screwdrivers and put down your regular phillips. Saves from stripping out those stubborn Japanese fasteners with that little identifying dot on their head.
